Profile Audit

Automated completeness and quality scoring for each Google Business Profile.

Profile Audit runs an AI-powered analysis across all your connected Google Business Profiles and produces a scored report with prioritized actions to improve listing quality and local search visibility. This feature is part of the Localith local SEO optimization tool.

Overview

The audit answers one question: what is wrong with your listings and what should you fix first. It checks every connected profile for missing information, inconsistencies, and optimization gaps — then ranks the findings by impact so you know where to spend your time.

The audit covers two layers. First, it scans your listings for completeness and data quality across categories like address, phone number, description, business hours, website, and category selection. Second, it surfaces business-level priorities like critical reviews that need replies and locations that require verification.

Before you start

Before running or reviewing your audit, make sure:

  • your Google Business Profiles are connected in Localith
  • the basic profile information in Google is reasonably up to date (the audit compares against what Google currently has)
  • you know which locations you want to prioritize — the audit covers all connected profiles at once

If you need to fix individual profile fields first, use Edit Business Info.

How it works

The audit is accessible from two places:

  • Listings > View listings report — opens the full audit report across all connected listings
  • Listings > individual listing — click the AI optimization icon next to any listing to see per-location recommendations in a side panel

Both paths lead to the same underlying analysis. The full report gives you the cross-location view; the per-listing panel gives you focused recommendations for one profile.

Audit listings report

Navigate to Listings and click View listings report in the top-right corner. The report shows:

General summary

Four headline metrics across all your connected profiles:

  • Total listings — how many profiles are connected in the platform
  • Missing information — how many listings have fields that are empty or incomplete
  • Needs improvement — how many listings have fields that exist but could be better optimized
  • Good — how many listings pass all checks across all categories

The summary also shows the report creation date and a breakdown of findings by impact level.

Impact levels

Actions are sorted into three tiers:

  • High impact — changes that will have the most significant effect on your listing quality and visibility. Fix these first.
  • Medium impact — meaningful improvements worth addressing after high-impact items are resolved.
  • Low impact — minor optimizations that round out profile completeness.

Optimize listings by category

Below the summary, the report breaks down findings by profile field category. Each category card shows:

  • the category name and what it checks (e.g., "Phone number — Correct phone number format with country and area code")
  • a count of listings in each state: missing (red), need improvement (orange), and good (green)
  • a View details button to drill into the specific listings and issues

Categories typically include:

  • Website — business website with locations and offering details
  • Phone number — correct format with country and area code
  • Address — proper address format with clear street names
  • Category — appropriate business category selection
  • Description — complete and keyword-optimized business description
  • Hours — complete and consistent business hours

Click Regenerate report to re-run the audit with fresh data (costs 15 credits).

Per-listing AI recommendations

From the Listings table, click the AI optimization icon next to any listing to open the Business info optimization side panel. This shows field-by-field AI recommendations for that specific location.

Each field gets a status badge:

  • Improvement — the field has data but the AI has a specific suggestion to make it better
  • Missing — the field is empty and should be filled in

The AI provides a plain-language explanation for each recommendation. For example:

  • Address — the AI may suggest formatting the street name more clearly or adding neighborhood details to help customers find the business
  • Description — the AI may recommend making the description more concise, focused on primary services, and enriched with relevant local SEO keywords
  • Phone number — the AI may flag a missing international dialing code that could confuse customers outside the local area
  • Category — the AI may suggest adding more specific categories to target additional customer segments
  • Hours — the AI may note inconsistent closing times across weekdays that could confuse customers

Click Regenerate report at the bottom of the panel to refresh the recommendations for that listing (costs 1 credit).

Business overview

The audit also includes a Business overview section that surfaces operational priorities across all locations:

Summary metrics

  • High priority actions — urgent items that need immediate attention (shown in red)
  • Medium priority actions — important items to address soon (shown in orange)
  • Positive outcomes — things that are already in good shape (shown in green)
  • Overall business health — a score out of 100 reflecting your aggregate profile quality

Priority breakdown

The overview uses the same three-tier system: high priority, medium priority, and positive outcomes. This gives you a quick read on the overall state of your business presence.

Critical reviews

The business overview surfaces Critical reviews — negative reviews that are flagged as urgent and need a response. Each review card shows the reviewer name, date, star rating, review snippet, and which location it belongs to. Click Reply to respond directly or route it through the AI Review Reply workflow.

Unaddressed negative reviews are a ranking signal. The audit surfaces them here so you do not have to check each location separately.

Location actions

The overview also flags Location actions — locations that need manual intervention. For example, a location marked Not verified requires Google verification before it can fully appear in search results. Click View all locations to see the full list and take action.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Listings from the left sidebar.
  2. Click View listings report to open the full audit.
  3. Review the General summary — note how many listings have missing information or need improvement.
  4. Check the impact breakdown — start with high-impact items.
  5. Scroll to Optimize listings by category — click View details on any category with missing or improvement counts.
  6. For per-listing recommendations, go back to the Listings table and click the AI icon next to a specific listing.
  7. Review each AI suggestion in the side panel and decide whether to apply it.
  8. To act on a suggestion, navigate to Edit Business Info or Bulk Updates to make the changes.
  9. Check the Business overview for critical reviews and location actions that need attention.
  10. Reply to urgent negative reviews directly or through the AI Review Reply workflow.
  11. After making changes, click Regenerate report to see updated scores.

Tips and best practices

  • Start with high-impact categories that have the most "missing" entries — these represent the biggest gaps.
  • Use the per-listing panel for focused fixes on your most important locations, and the full report for cross-location patterns.
  • Address critical reviews promptly — the audit surfaces them because unresponded negative reviews affect both ranking and customer trust.
  • Resolve location verification issues as soon as possible — unverified locations have limited visibility in search results.
  • Regenerate the report after a batch of fixes to track your progress and see if new recommendations appear.
  • Pair the audit with AI Optimization for keyword-specific ranking actions and Local Citations for cross-directory consistency.

Limits or edge cases

  • The audit report reflects what Google currently shows for your profiles. If you recently made changes, they may not appear until Google indexes the updates.
  • AI suggestions are recommendations, not automatic changes. You review and apply them through the normal editing workflow.
  • Per-listing regeneration costs 1 credit; full report regeneration costs 15 credits. Credits depend on your plan — see Pricing for details.
  • A perfect audit score does not guarantee top rankings — it means your profile data is complete and well-optimized relative to what the audit can measure.

Common questions

What is the difference between the audit report and AI Optimization?

The audit report focuses on listing data quality — missing fields, formatting issues, and completeness across all profiles. AI Optimization focuses on ranking-specific actions like keyword incorporation, review response strategy, and competitive positioning.

How often should I run the audit?

After making a batch of profile changes, regenerate to check progress. For ongoing monitoring, monthly is usually enough unless you are actively onboarding new locations.

Can I apply suggestions in bulk?

The audit identifies what needs fixing. To apply changes across multiple locations at once, use Bulk Updates or Bulk Edit.

Why does the audit show critical reviews?

Unresponded negative reviews are both a ranking factor and a customer trust issue. The audit surfaces them alongside listing quality because both affect your overall local search performance.
