Photo Publishing lets you upload and manage photos across one or multiple Google Business Profiles from a single interface. Instead of uploading images to each listing individually through Google, you select locations, choose the photo category, and publish in bulk. This page is part of the Localith Google Posts scheduling tool.
Overview
Photos are one of the strongest signals for local search engagement. Listings with recent, high-quality photos get more clicks, direction requests, and calls. But uploading photos location by location is tedious when you manage dozens or hundreds of profiles.
Localith centralizes photo management under the Publishing section. You can view all uploaded photos in a gallery, upload new photos to multiple locations at once, and categorize them by type so Google displays them correctly.
Before you start
Before uploading photos, make sure:
- your Google Business Profiles are connected in Localith
- your images are in JPEG or PNG format and under 100 MB per file
- you know which locations should receive the photos
- you have decided the image category (exterior, interior, product, at-work, or additional)
If you need to publish text posts, offers, or events instead, use Google Posts.
How it works
Navigate to Publishing from the left sidebar, then click Photos in the Posts sub-menu. This opens the photo gallery showing all photos currently uploaded across your connected profiles.
From here you can:
- browse all uploaded photos with a count and filter
- search for specific photos
- upload new photos to one or multiple locations
Uploading photos
Step-by-step
- Open Publishing from the left sidebar.
- Click Photos in the Posts sub-menu.
- Click Upload photos in the top-right corner.
- Drag and drop your images into the upload area, or click the camera icon to browse your files. Maximum file size is 100 MB per image. Accepted formats are JPEG and PNG.
- Under You'll share this photos on..., select which locations should receive the upload. Click the dropdown to search by name, address, group, or tag. You can select individual locations or click Select all.
- Choose the Image category from the dropdown to tell Google how to classify the photo.
- Click upload to publish the photos to the selected locations.
Image categories
When uploading, you choose a category that tells Google where to display the photo on your profile:
- Additional images — general photos that do not fit a specific category. This is the default.
- Exterior — photos of the outside of your business (storefront, signage, building)
- Interior — photos of the inside of your business (decor, layout, seating area)
- Product — photos of products you sell or services you offer
- At-work — photos of your team in action or your workspace
Choosing the right category helps Google organize your profile photos and show the most relevant images to searchers.
Photo gallery
The Photos section under Publishing shows a gallery view of all uploaded photos across your profiles. The gallery includes:
- total photo count (e.g., "33 photos")
- a Photos: All filter to narrow the view
- a search bar to find specific images
- a grid of photo thumbnails
This gives you a central place to see everything that has been uploaded without checking each location's profile separately.
Tips and best practices
- Upload photos regularly — Google favors profiles with recent photo activity. Aim for at least a few new photos per month per location.
- Use the correct image category for each upload. Exterior and interior shots help customers know what to expect before visiting.
- Upload to multiple locations at once when the same photo applies broadly (e.g., a product photo for a franchise, a branded team shot across offices).
- Use high-resolution images. Google displays photos prominently on profiles and in Maps — blurry or low-quality photos hurt first impressions.
- Product photos should clearly show what you sell. At-work photos should show real team members or real work — not stock imagery.
Limits or edge cases
- Maximum file size is 100 MB per image. Files must be JPEG or PNG.
- Photo uploads are published to Google immediately — there is no scheduling option for photos (unlike posts).
- Google may take some time to process and display new photos after upload.
- If a photo violates Google's content policies, it may be removed by Google after upload.
Common questions
Can I upload the same photo to all locations at once?
Yes. Use the location selector in the upload dialog and click Select all or choose the specific locations that should receive the photo.
What image category should I use if I am not sure?
Use Additional images as the default. If the photo clearly shows the outside of the business, use Exterior. If it shows the inside, use Interior. Product and At-work are for more specific use cases.
Can I delete photos after uploading?
Photo management depends on your Google Business Profile settings. Photos uploaded through Localith can be managed from the gallery view.
Is there a limit on how many photos I can upload?
There is no hard limit in Localith. Google Business Profiles accept a large number of photos per location, but focus on quality over quantity.
